⏳ WAITING & TIME 🕐
Waiting can be hard when you don’t know how long something will take or what’s happening next. ⏳ Here you’ll find visuals and tools designed to support waiting, taking turns, and understanding time. I’ll also share how we’re using these tools with James and what they look like in our everyday life.

Wait My Turn Visual
Waiting can feel like forever when you don’t know when your turn is coming! ⏳ This visual helps make that waiting period more concrete by pairing it with a timer and a clear “My Turn” at the end, so your child can see that waiting doesn’t last forever.
How We're Using It With James:
We like to pair this visual with a timer when James needs to wait. You can use a regular timer, a phone timer, or James’ favorite—a visual timer! ⏳ Being able to actually see the time passing helps James understand how much longer he needs to wait.
We show him the visual, set the timer, and let him know that when the timer is finished, it’s his turn. We can also pair it with his AAC when needed. Giving James both the visual and the timer makes waiting more understandable than only telling him, “You have to wait.” 🩵
